Global Governance and International Organizations
How have the Sustainable Development Goals contributed to global development since 2016? What can global governance institutions contribute to equitable development, environmental sustainability, and human rights today? How is growing authoritarianism affecting global institutions’ agendas and states commitments to them?
International law and regulation need governance and organizational backbone. International organizations and other global governance institutions often help create treaties and other legal and regulatory frameworks and support implementation of those instruments. They also develop supportive structures that extend and amplify existing international norms and standards, as with the SDGs.
Although under great strain today, much of my work and research has focused on how global institutions function and how to improve their work.
